4) Quick guidelines

  • Duration must be known and > 0 to compute.
  • Minimum suggestions (very rough): 1080p@30 → 2,500–8,000 kbps; 720p → 1,000–4,000; 480p → 500–1,500.
  • If target bitrate > current, output may grow in size.
  • Prefer the smaller of size-implied vs resolution-implied bitrates to stay within limits.
